Bib Shorts - Bib-style cycling shorts

Bib shorts – or "Trägerhosen" in German – are close-fitting cycling shorts with integrated shoulder straps instead of a waistband. The straps reliably hold the shorts in place without uncomfortable elastic at the stomach and prevent them from slipping while riding. In combination with an ergonomic seat pad, bib shorts are the comfort standard for ambitious road, gravel, and triathlon cyclists.

Classic cycling shorts are held in place by an elastic waistband around the hips, while bib shorts are supported by straps. This eliminates any pressure on the abdomen – a clear advantage on longer rides, in a low riding position, and when breathing under exertion. Bib shorts are therefore considered the most comfortable and performance-oriented solution for athletic cycling.

The size primarily depends on your hip circumference and height – you can find both in our size chart directly on the product. Bib shorts should fit snugly without digging in: This is the only way for the chamois to sit correctly and for wrinkles to be avoided. When in doubt, it's better to choose the smaller size, as the material will stretch slightly with wear.

No – Bib shorts are generally worn without underwear. The integrated chamois is specifically designed for direct skin contact, wicks away moisture, and prevents chafing and sores. Underwear worn under bib shorts would create seams that would lead to pressure points and skin irritation.

With modern bib shorts, it's easier than you think: take off or roll up your jersey, slip the straps over your shoulders, and pull down your shorts – done. However, there are also some women's models that feature practical comfort solutions like elastic straps.

Bib shorts should be washed after every ride – preferably inside out on a delicate cycle at 30 °C, without fabric softener and without a dryer. Fabric softener attacks the elastane fibers and the chamois, while high temperatures and heat destroy elasticity. Air drying preserves fit, function and lifespan the longest.

A high-quality bib short lasts approximately 15,000 to 25,000 kilometers, depending on care and training volume. At the latest when the seat pad is visibly thinned out, the fabric becomes transparent, or the straps lose their tension, it's time for a new model – worn-out pads can quickly lead to pressure points otherwise.

Yes – bib shorts are particularly recommended for women because the absence of a waistband offers more comfort.
