What types of marathons are there?
Marathon races come in many different forms and variations. The best-known variant is certainly the classic road marathon, in which 42.195 kilometers are run on the road. But there are also trail marathons, where you run on uneven terrain and in nature. Another trend are obstacle marathons, in which the runners have to overcome various obstacles. It's less about the time and more about the fun and challenge. Ultramarathons, which cover a distance of 50 kilometers or even 100 kilometers, are also becoming increasingly popular. And if you like it even more extreme, you can also try a multi-day marathon or a desert marathon. Depending on your interest and fitness level, there are a variety of options to prepare for and participate in such an event.
